Two Roots, based in San Diego, initially got its start in the THC space, brewing cannabis-infused beers. They are a pioneer in the artisan fusion of cannabis and beer. At Two Roots Brewing they’ve combined a passion for all things craft with science, innovation, and social responsibility to create a new class of adult beverages poised to change the beer and cannabis markets. However, the brand often sampled its non-infused beers, and customers remarked how much they loved them, so Two Roots decided to roll out a line that doesn’t contain THC or alcohol……..

Straight Drank – Non-Alcoholic IPA:

2020 Great American Beer Festival® Bronze Medal winner. For this hoppy, dank, resiny West Coast-style IPA, we used the dankest hops–tons of Eureka! and a splash of Comet–infused it with the finest botanically derived terpenes.

Drank is used to describe anything good in US speak, but in modern beer terms, it describes a taste between the resinous pine and citrus ends of a beer’s flavour profile. In terms of this beer it means Very ‘green’, earthy and plant-like, it can certainly be very similar to cannabis aromas.

It pours a cloudy, thick-looking amber liquid, with a great thick head that you could happily just scoop out with a spoon! It tastes just great, tropical mango, lychee and passion fruit, orange pith and grapefruit zest, and of course resinous pine. Malt sweetness is certainly there, but is tempered well by a moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is fantastic, thick and creamy and luxurious with a short bitter finish to the drink.
