Mash Gang PIE PA – Mango and Peach IPA ~ 440ml Can

Did we base a beer on a deep fried pie from a certain beloved fast food chain? Yes, this IS a Jollibee inspired beer. This is an IPA evolved, maybe we are improving craft beer or slowly but surely causing it’s downfall. BUT YOU LIKE PIE, RIGHT?!

Jordan says of this beer:

“I have an incredibly fond memory of my grandmother, taking me to, a probably in hindsight, bad local burger joint called something like the all-American Yankee burger company or similar, and on the menu they had deep-fried apple pie, and I imagined a big slice of apple pie, deep fried, but it was actually one of those tube things that you get McDonald’s. Initially, I was disappointed… Secondarily nearly burnt the roof of my mouth off on the nuclear furnace temperature filling within. But these kinds of delicious treats are insidious, and soon I was stopping by this janky burger store just to pick these up. Now, as time makes fools of us all, I would forget about this delicious little treat until I was laid up in bed hung over, and watched an Anthony Bourdain episode where he tried Jollibee from the Philippines, and they had this mango peach deep-fried pie, and I knew that I must have it. It would be years until serendipity took me to Leeds to work at Northern Monk and I would take a lunch break down on the High Street and there it was Jollibee. I couldn’t believe my eyes it was so out of place and so unexpected. I rushed in, and I knew exactly what I was gonna get: spaghetti with hotdogs, fried chicken, and a mango peach pie and I did. In the coming months, Jollibee somewhat became a right of passage for new members of Mash Gang, I remember Roger our CFO, ringing me up because he’d run out to grab it on his lunch. Adam and I from Northern Monk would have it for breakfast. While working at Siren recently, I came across Jollibee again, and it reminded me that I had to make this beer. So I did.”

Mash Gang changing stuff.….

….From a start-up in lockdown to becoming one of the most important brands in the AF beer market, they make an amazing core range then comes the drop(s)…..

Mash Gang has brewed beers from lagers and pales to sours & stouts they just push flavours and mouth feel to a whole new level. When the drops have dropped and they go out of stock that’s it! so buy them when they are in stock. No amount of begging will get Reign in Blood back in stock so get used to it and try what is out there before that is gone and you’re moaning about not having had time to try it!

Surprisingly they run their business through the Japanese model of Kaizen, which translates as change for the better and continuous improvement. They are focused on slow, sustained growth. This is why they wanted to spend the early years of this business working on a solid foundation where you build up trust with consumers that they always deliver a high-quality product, and that they are always relentlessly innovating.

They say they are never satisfied with what we do!

Furthermore, no single recipe stays the same, and just because they contract brew, that doesn’t mean they don’t have an eye on quality. Everything they do is around the quality of the beer…. enough said, the only way to really appreciate these guys is to taste their beers…..
